Could this be it?

When I returned from Switzerland for the first time, I sent an e-mail to friends and family saying that it must be the most beautiful place on earth. Well, this week, I’ve found the U.S. version of what might be the most beautiful place on earth: the Oregon coast.
Upon leaving “wine country,” I took Highways 1 and 101 up through Northern California and into Oregon. Highway 101 hugs the coast from the top to the bottom of the state, and winds between forest and beach the whole way. Just beautiful. Indescribably beautiful. It’s like Big Sur, but bigger and greener and much, much, much, much cheaper!
I stopped overnight in Brookings, which is right over the California/Oregon border. The town is small, but charming, and I could literally step off my deck into the ocean (though given the weather, I decided against it).
Fun fact about Oregon: they don’t let you pump your own gas here! When I went to fill up this morning, I thought I had mistakenly pulled up to the full service pump, but was informed that it’s against the law to pump your own gas! Talk about first-class travel!
